Blueprinting Your Life & LegacyPresented by Christina Bush, CES, CAS, CMFC Wealth Manager Certified Estate and Trust Specialist
'Fear not that thy life shall come to an end, but rather fear that it shall never have a beginning.' John Henry Cardinal None of us have a crystal ball to tell us the future, but we can shape our futures and make things happen through life planning. Ask yourself the question: 'If I had all the money in the world that I could ever need, what would I do to fulfull the rest of my life'? This is a very powerful question and it will make you get down to the truth of who you are, what your philanthropic values are and want you want to accomplish in life. Maybe you don't have all the money in the world...who does? It doesn't mean you can't live your life according to a great design. Put together your Accomplishment List and start scheduling things on a calendar -- work on the next year, make appointments. Life is short so live it to the fullest and take advantage of fantastic opportunities that come your way. Without goals and meaningful purpose, we simply go through the motions of daily life. Meaningful purpose reaches out to the world around us and infuses life with the special gifts that each of us have inside. 'Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.' Marilyn Monroe
Grab some paper and a pen and answer these questions. Go back to it later and elaborate and perfect it. This is a truly amazing exercise and makes you really understand the person you are deep inside. What is your ideal future scenario? Paint a picture for your compelling vision. Spend at least five minutes on each question before moving on.
As you have the time it is nice to write all of your answers into a journal that will be left as an heirloom and legacy for those you leave behind. I was fortunate that my mother, who I lost in my early twenties, did that for me and now her words can inspire people forever. She left our family a wonderful legacy. What will you leave to yours?
